THE PLACE TO BE
The rationale is to make church a place where people want to come. Make it a place where they want to be.

What you are about to read is based on the experiences of a church that saw tremendous growth in 6 years, moving from a weekly average worship attendance of 97 to over 600. Growth to 400 was accomplished without a permanent facility. It was accomplished in a community of 27,000. And it was evenly distributed along demographic lines. The children's department grew from only 10-15 kids of all ages to over 40 in less than one year, and over 250 in a recent service. The youth group went from 8-12 to over 50 in just over a year. The college-age group moved from non-existent to 15-20 in about a year. And this in a town that is know primarily as a retirement community.

So, what is it all about?

It is about doing things differently. But differently doesn't, and shouldn't, mean doctrinally deficient. The methods can change, but the message never should.

On the following pages is information related to church planting and church growth. Church consultation has become big business in America, with many such firms and a library's worth of books currently competing in the marketplace.

We have decided, however, to make this material available free of charge on this website. We are also available for personal consultation with church planters, pastors, and/or boards for only a modest fee, plus travel-related expenses. And we will also consult via email and telephone, as needed.

The material I present here is not intended to be the ultimate word on church planting and growth. Rather, it is an amalgamation of many resources I have read on the subject in combination with personal experience.

My intent here is to provide a resource for planters, pastors, and/or boards, not a detailed plan to follow. All circumstances are unique, and successful techniques will vary. But if this information helps someone to move down the road a little more quickly, and in doing so reduces the stress level associated with growing churches and plants, then it has served its purpose.
